2007. Patinated ferrocement. 4 sculptural elements in variable dimensions.
The sculpture relates three interrelated ideas: the Egg, the House, the Trees. “Ab Ovo” is Latin: from the beginning of time. The Egg, is a symbol of new life, supported by the frame of a House – symbol of community – upheld by four sprouting Trees. The symbolism associated with trees & forests contains in itself multiple meanings in every culture, particularly in British Columbia. The first Nation graphics on the trees depict Qayqayt First Nation, the 1st Peoples of New Westminster.
